What does it take to be Vice President of the United States?

What more do I need to know about Sarah Palin to make up my mind before voting on Nov. 4?

I’ve learned more about how Americans really feel about the presidential and vice presidential candidates by listening to the callers on C-SPAN. For example, one lone woman gave her reason for not voting for McCain:

“You can’t trust anyone who’s been tortured.”

Wow. So, strength of will and evidence of courage and even character should NOT be a requirement for holding high office. That certainly lets McCain out. But why then trust Gov. Palin with the 2nd highest office over Senator Joe Biden?

I’m just as qualified to pick the best candidate as Katie Couric or Charlie Gibson or that C-SPAN caller. I like Sarah Palin and I don’t like Joe Biden. I don’t trust anyone who uses sarcasm to make their point; I’ve used it and it was usually when I didn’t know what I was talking about or respect my opponent. Me-1, Biden-0.

It’s a proven fact that it takes 3-6 months to learn any new job so being ready on Day 1 to be President " or VP - is a pipe dream.

Now, leading the nation is another ball of wax altogether. Sarah Palin has already done her fair share of leading: Mom, PTA member, Mom, Mayor, Mom and, oh yes, Governor. You have to have tried working with kids and their parents to know what kind of leadership it takes to gain their trust and then accomplish anything. I already told you why I don’t like Biden so his PTA experience, if any, doesn’t apply here.

I trust people who already have inner strength, fortified with integrity, people who know intuitively the difference between right and wrong, are willing to say what that is, respect those who differ with them, then are able to defend their position without rancor or sarcasm.

Anyone can be schooled on the minutiae of the geo-political world, but being able to discern which Little Event caused the Greater Event and why it could be Good or Bad for us goes beyond schooling and into the realm of vision.

My vision for America is that Voters think outside the box and elect a presidential team with integrity and who can get along with people who don’t agree with them.
