Shouldn't have bailed out on Glenn Beck...

8/17/09

Dear Mr. Tasher, Ms. Harris and Mr. Nicely,

One can hardly get away from politics these days, and the news anchors are buried up to their reading glasses in stories about President Obama's nay-sayers, or the protesters speaking up at the "townhall" meetings on the proposed health care reform bill.

The Fox News channel is one of the very few places on the television where we can get information that isn't always slanted toward the president and away from those who oppose this reform. And Glenn Beck is not just a radical, gone-over-the-edge anchor devoted to fighting against the policies of the president.

I would respectfully ask you to renew your sponsorship of the Glenn Beck program if for no other reason than you won't appear to be afraid of a political organization. If individual Americans are standing up against the opposition can't you do it as well?

I know you're in business to make money but I don't know for sure if there's more to your decision to pull the ad dollars than losing money. I do know that threats come in all sizes and shapes and conditions and forms, and some conspiracies are real.

There's a saying, "Just because you're paranoid it doesn't mean they're not out to get you." There really could be fire where there is smoke. Your companies may be "things," "entities," but they are also influential ones.

And just like your corporations, the body public sometimes needs to make a statement. This is mine.

Thank you for your reconsideration of the matter.

Regards,
